Seaweed cultivation course at SES

SES gives second seaweed cultivation course for VAL students

On 17th November 2016, Seaweed Energy Solutions once again welcomed students from VAL videregående for a seaweed cultivation course. The day was a mixture of lectures, hatchery visit, and a lot of practical work, learning about every step in the production process. Students performed sori desinfection, spore release and seeding with mother plants from their own location, worked with gametophyte cultures and lab maintenance tasks. The seeded ropes are to be deployed in the sea in early 2017, where they will monitor the growth of the seaweeds through to summer, and experience first hand the cultivation potential in Nord-Trøndelag.

We hope to see them again next year!
